Polymathic was initially retained by Thomson Reuters Corp. legal counsel to work as in-house technical experts on behalf of Thomson Reuters. The subject matter pertained to high performance data compression technology and related computer source code for high frequency financial data systems. Polymathic engineers were able to perform infringement analysis and reverse engineering of distributed C/C++/Java based software systems in excess of 10 million lines of computer source code, in addition to contributing to claim construction and other matters.
During the engagement, Polymathic was subsequently retained by the Joint Defense Group for additional engineering research and analysis. During this period, Polymathic was able to effectively reverse engineer existing executable products and subsequent source code infrastructures to prove on-sale bar dates, infringement analysis, and various computer forensic functions.
The result was a summary judgement against the plaintiff, in benefit of both Thomson Reuters as well as the joint defense group as a whole.
